How Critical Illness Insurance And Terminal Illness Life Insurance Differ

Since we are unable to predict our future health, it is absolutely necessary that we purchase life insurance. Life insurance is imperative for taking care of the loved ones that have been left behind when we pass away. Most people will pass away with a lot of debt to their name, and in a lot of cases having had dependants who rely on their financial support. Without your income, those dependants and loved ones could suffer financially.

There are two types of life insurance with regards to illness. One is terminal illness insurance and the other is critical illness insurance. Terminal illness insurance is a tender subject, and is for those unfortunate people who are aware that their time is running out. You can claim for terminal illness life insurance if you have been diagnosed with an illness which gives you a life expectancy of less than 12 months. Terminal illness life insurance cannot be purchased as a stand alone life insurance policy; it needs to be purchased in conjunction with a regular plan. Most good life insurance policies will include terminal illness coverage on the plan with no extra cost.

Critical illness plans are all inclusive plans, and will usually cover up to 20 or so distinct illnesses. Critical, or chronic, illness cover will usually be added onto the policy as an extra. This means you will have to pay additional charges, but it is well worth it. Some chronic illnesses are debilitating, and will stop you from being able to function normally. This will affect your ability to work and produce an income. Critical life insurance policies will cover blindness and heart attacks, whilst terminal coverage will not. Should you become blind or experience an extreme heart failure, then the critical illness coverage will pay out large sums of tax free funds to you. This will assist in your living expenses whilst you are not able to work.

No one ever wants to suffer through a chronic or terminal illness, but unfortunately they are the reality of life, and no one is completely immune. It is better to be prepared so that you can deal with your illness without suffering financially.
